Jan. 31--WILKES-BARRE, Pa. -- At 7 a.m., striking registered nurses marched -- chanting and singing -- to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Nearly half of the 400 registered nurses who walked off the job Thursday morning in a contract dispute with the hospital joined the early-morning picket line.
Carrying signs and singing "God Bless America," the nurses began a two-day strike to protest the hospital's unwillingness to meet their demands to eliminate most mandatory overtime and improve nurses' staffing levels.
