Feb. 2--Few industries in the recent past have faced as many crises as the nation's major airlines. Consider the 2001 terrorist attacks, the lingering effects of a national recession and now the prospect of war with Iraq.
The wave of misfortunes left some airlines bankrupt. Experts warn that other carriers might be grounded if a war brings a spike in jet fuel prices and keeps fearful passengers at home.
