Since the word "taco" was first printed in English in the 1930s, the United States has been inundated with fast-food restaurants selling Americanized versions of them.

As a result, people in most parts of the U.S. learned to equate Mexican cuisine with U-shaped yellow shells filled with ground beef, onion, yellow cheese, lettuce and tomato.

Wisconsin's exploding Mexican population, and the many authentic Mexican restaurants that have opened as a result, are showing people what they've been missing all these years.
