Skoda Auto's sales dip to 445,000 units in 2002

Prague. February 3. INTERFAX EUROPE - Skoda auto (SA), the Czech Republic's biggest carmaker, saw its total sales for 2002 fall by 3.2 % yr/yr to 445,525 units, the firm's Jaroslav Cerny told Interfax.

The firm blames the decline on the continuing recession in key European car markets as well as the firming Czech crown.

SA's Fabia model was the firm's best-selling car, with sales of 264,641 units in 2002, an increase of 5.4 % yr/yr. Fabia hatchbacks account for the bulk of Fabia sales, at 150,319 units. Some 81,996 Fabia station wagon models were sold in 2002, while sales of the Fabia sedan ...
