Al Hrabosky would bow his head for a few seconds, slam his fist into his glove and stomp onto the mound. John Rocker sprints like a madman from the bullpen to the mound. Trevor Hoffman enters the game with AC/DC's "Hell's Bells" blaring over the PA system.
But when it comes to intimidation, no one - not Hrabosky, Rocker, Hoffman or any other relief pitcher in modern baseball history - did it quite like Rich "Goose" Gossage.
The bushy Fu Manchu mustache. The maniacal windup of flailing arms and legs. And a fastball that in Gossage's heyday reached 100 mph.
