While vehicle and tyre markets across the developed world are suffering slow growth, "very exciting things" will occur in the emerging markets, especially in the People's Republic of China, according to Dennis Byrne, emeritus professor of economics at the University of Akron, Ohio.
And in Western Europe, "the tyre industry does not make money," so it is currently trying to "squeeze every penny out of production," Byrne commented.
