Feb. 4--Advocates for affordable housing came out yesterday with a spirited protest of Governor Mitt Romney's proposed $17 million reduction in housing funding, warning that the people who benefit most from the programs are only a step away from being homeless.
"It's hard to see how it's a change for the better, to tell people the one chance they have to realize their dream is not going to happen," said Richard Thal, executive director of the Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Development Corporation, which is building about 90 units with help from a trust fund that Romney has proposed ...
