Article: Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-Area Airport Posts Its Best Year in 2002.

Feb. 5--Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport had the best year in its history in 2002, surpassing the 17 million-passenger threshold for the first time.

The airport said 2002 traffic grew 3.8 percent, to 17.04 million, up from 16.4 million a year earlier and outstripping flat performances at Palm Beach and Miami airports.

It was Fort Lauderdale's seventh straight year of growth since 1995. Passenger traffic has soared 72.6 percent in that period.
