Hyderabad, India (Sports Network) - Two-time major champion Mary Pierce was among Wednesday's second-round winners at the inaugural WTA Indian Open.
The fourth-seeded Pierce pasted Aussie Evie Dominikovic, 6-1, 6-3, to secure a berth in the quarterfinals at this outdoor hardcourt event.
The former top-10 star Pierce has battled injuries over the past couple of seasons and has plummeted to 49th in the world rankings.
Second-seeded Thai Tamarine Tanasugarn also advanced Wednesday, with an easy 6-3, 6-3 decision against Belarusian Tatiana Poutchek at SAAP Stadium.
