Feb. 7--The city's efforts to place tolls on the East River bridges got a major push yesterday from Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno -- the first high-ranking state official to support the plan.
"We're wide open on that issue. I think there's merit in people that use particular facilities [to] pay as they go," he said. "We're talking to the mayor about that."
Bruno also indicated he may support raising the city's income tax on city dwellers -- but remains dead set against reinstating the commuter tax.
