Members of a Lake County political group are opposing a $27.7 million plan to build libraries in Libertyville and Vernon Hills.
The two-library plan is an "unnecessary extravagance," said Raymond True, chairman of the Republican Assembly of Lake County.
The group is not affiliated with the Lake County Republican Party, which doesn't take stands on local, nonpartisan ballot issues.
Residents in the library district, which includes parts of Green Oaks, Indian Creek, Libertyville, Mettawa, Mundelein and Vernon Hills, will be asked to approve two tax-rate increases on April 1 to pay for the ...
