Just because the name the smallest room in your house sounds straight out of the 1950s, it doesn't mean you have to decorate it like that.

Interior decorators see a first-floor half-bath (aka powder room) as a place to express a bit of daring.

"Powder rooms can have impact and style in very little space," says model home decorator John Biever of Model Interiors. "You can be more dramatic because you spend very little time there."
