Feb. 10--For Snow Summit's 50th anniversary, Dick Kun bought another mountain, he likes to joke.
"The acquisition [of neighboring Big Bear Mountain resort] was a protective measure, conservative rather than expansion-minded," he said. "We bought ourselves a lot of options."
President of Big Bear Lake-based Snow Summit Ski Corp., Kun completed the purchase of Big Bear Mountain from Booth Creek Ski Holdings in October for $12 million. Kun first tried to buy Big Bear in 1980 but couldn't finance the deal. Earlier owners had spent more than $35 million ...
