One of the world's largest intellectual smorgasbords will be served up in Denver next week as 6,000 scientists from around the globe gather to discuss everything from the hazard of asteroid impact to the physics of skiing.
The annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science draws Nobel Prize winners, scientists famous and obscure, researchers, policy-makers, educators, students and groupies.
The public is invited to much of it, too.
The six-day event opens Thursday and is spread across the Colorado Convention Center and three downtown hotels.
