SPACE CENTER, Houston -- The board investigating the Columbia shuttle disaster will speed up its efforts in the coming days as it embarks on a whirlwind fact-gathering mission that may ultimately determine what caused the spacecraft's destruction.
Board chairman Adm. Hal Gehman said the panel would meet with engineers at Johnson Space Center today before fanning out to other NASA centers. He said the pace of the probe will triple after today because members will split into three teams.
