Feb. 9--HORSE OWNERS URGED TO PREPARE FOR ANOTHER WEST NILE EPIDEMIC: When the mosquito population hit Oklahoma in the heat of summer last year, equine health specialists thought we were pretty well prepared for the West Nile Virus.
But nobody really expected the number of infected horses to be quite so high, said Burke Healey, state veterinarian and director of the animal industry at the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry.
