Elk Grove, Calif., Threatens to Cut Ties with Transit Agency.

Feb. 11--The city of Elk Grove is threatening to cut its ties with Regional Transit, a move that could complicate attempts to coordinate public transportation to ease highway congestion and reduce air pollution.

Elk Grove officials say they have become increasingly frustrated with what they contend is RT's slow response to the city's growing transit needs. What's more, they say RT has never given them a detailed account of what the city gets for the $2.8 million it pays the transit agency annually, despite repeated requests over the past two years.
