Feb. 11--Hundreds of New Yorkers got their first look at a sweeping new vision for midtown's far West Side last night -- complete with waterfront walkways, extended subway lines, big buildings and a new stadium.
"We want to create a unique and special place where people want to live, work, visit and spend time," said Amanda Burden, chairwoman of the City Planning Commission, at a special public meeting at the Jacob Javits Convention Center.
The area targeted for revitalization runs from 24th to 43rd Sts. between Eighth Ave. and the Hudson River.
