The movie musical, for more than 20 years little more than a fond memory, made an impressive comeback Tuesday when this year's Academy Award nominations were announced.
"Chicago," the sassy Prohibition-era fantasy, scored a whopping 13 nominations and found itself in a position to be the first musical to win the best picture statuette since 1968's "Oliver!"
Perhaps it's a trend. Last year the Down Under musical "Moulin Rouge" was nominated for best picture. The year before, the Depression-era roots-country musical "O Brother, Where Art Thou" won critical acclaim and cult status, though it didn't receive a best picture ...
