DALLAS -- DALLAS, Feb. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas announced today that it will participate in a research trial studying a miniaturized axial flow heart-assist pump, known as the MicroMed DeBakey VAD(R). Physicians will test this technology as a bridge to heart transplantation for patients in late-stage congestive heart failure (CHF), a chronic condition in which the heart is unable to pump sufficient blood to vital organs. Baylor is one of four centers across the nation participating in this research.
