2003 JAN 27 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- The Florida Museum of Natural History recently received a $300,000 National Science Foundation grant to research one of the largest and least known orchid genera, which will lead to the ability to further plan biodiversity conservation priorities.
The orchid genus Maxillaria is the focus to obtain information on species diversity and how diversity is maintained among tropical plants.
The collection of orchids will occur in Mexico, Costa Rica, Ecuador, and Brazil. Researchers with the Florida Museum of Natural History at the University of Florida will collaborate with scientists in Central and South America to ...
