Agriculture and fisheries issues have risen to the top of the agenda for the talks on new Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) between the European Union and the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) nations. At the third negotiation session on EPAs, held in Brussels on February 12, ACP Ambassadors insisted on the need to convene a dedicated session on agriculture and fisheries agreements. The request, accepted by the EU, was partly based on the argument that many of the agriculture and fisheries questions are not market access related and need special handling.
