Feb. 14--WASHINGTON--Congress will step in to overhaul the dysfunctional US Olympic Committee, starting with an independent task force that likely will recommend radical change to make the bloated USOC smaller, more efficient, and more responsive to the athletes it serves.

"The American people have entrusted the USOC with the privilege of serving as the custodian of the athletes' dreams, but time and time again, the USOC has breached that trust," said John McCain, the Arizona Republican who chaired the Senate Commerce Committee's second "State of the USOC" hearing yesterday ...
