KANSAS CITY, Mo. _ The French being the French, many of them may take umbrage at Don Abell's rather forceful tone, he being American.
"God knows we supported them when they needed us," said Abell, who parachuted into Normandy on D-Day, June 6, 1944, to help free France from the Nazis in World War II.
"We fought our hearts out, lost many men. Now, for France to absolutely back down when it comes to Iraq, well, I feel let down. I'd even call it a slap in the face."
Those persnickety ingrates, say many Americans of the French. Those pushy, power-mad gunslingers, say many Frenchmen about the United States.
