THIS BOOK contains some 17 essays loosely centered on the theme of utopia by Brazilian academics in the field of modern languages. The definition of utopian literature is left open-ended in order to include a wide variety of twentieth-century literatures and cultures. In her introduction, the editor, Laura P. Zuntini de Izarra, states that the unifying theme is a redefinition of utopianism, as a consequence of the increasing influence of globalization.
