CANBERRA, Feb 17 Asia Pulse - It would be extremely unlikely for Prime Minister John Howard to call an election later this year, Foreign Minister Alexander Downer said today.
Mr Downer said he had not heard the speculation an election would be called later this year and the prospect was unlikely.
"I haven't heard the speculation but I tell you more importantly where I haven't heard the speculation: I haven't heard it in the prime minister's office," Mr Downer told Sydney Radio 2UE.
"I think that it would be unlikely in the extreme."
Mr Howard has denied a report today he had asked the Liberal Party to prepare for an election this year ...
