MELBOURNE, Feb 17 Asia Pulse - Global packager Amcor Ltd (ASX:AMC) is expected to post at least a 30 per cent increase in first half profit on Thursday because of major acquisitions made over the past 12 months.
The Melbourne-based group spent A$2.9 billion (US$1.7 billion) in landing German giant Schmalbach-Lubeca's PET plastic bottles, caps and lids business, catapulting Amcor to the forefront of the world packaging stage.
PET, or polyethylene terephthelate, is mainly used to make bottles and jars which package soft drinks and food.
