A year ago, Diamond Ferri was in line to be the starting tailback for the Syracuse University football team. Six months later, while his teammates were preparing to open the 2002 season, Ferri was taking classes at Bunker Hill Community College in Boston and selling Cutco cutlery.
"Not a lot of people want to spend $1,000 for a set of kitchen knives," Ferri said. "It was serious. I was working, going to classes, doing what I needed to do to get back here."
