Joey Fane shot and killed Dennis Richmond more than 4 1/2 years ago, Fane's attorney said Tuesday; the question, he said, is -- why?
Testimony in Fane's first-degree murder trial began Tuesday in Dane County Circuit Court after opening statements by Fane's attorney, Peter Steinberg, and Assistant District Attorney Jac Heitz.
In his opening remarks, Steinberg dismissed an expected line of prosecution witnesses who will say Fane told them about shooting Richmond on June 6, 1998, at the corner of Fisher and Center streets on Madison's South Side.
