ST. LOUIS _ The debate is no longer about the concept, it's about the consequences.
Annika Sorenstam has officially accepted a sponsor's exemption into the Colonial, which will be played May 19-25 in Fort Worth, Texas. The crossover will take place. What remains to be seen is how she will perform.
"I think if everything is right, if the conditions are just right, if the golf course is right and she's on her game, she can do well," said St. Louisan Ellen Port, a three-time U.S. Mid- Amateur champion who has played in local amateur events that are traditionally all men. "She is a competitor."
