SEATTLE _ Two days ago, Gary Payton said he would remain in Seattle for the remainder of the season and expressed a strong desire to re-sign with the Sonics and conclude his Hall of Fame career with the team that drafted him second overall in the 1990 NBA Draft.
On Thursday, the Sonics traded Payton to Milwaukee, where he rejoins former Sonics coach George Karl.
The five-player deal that shipped third-year guard Desmond Mason to the Bucks and delivered three-time All-Star Ray Allen and reserve guard Kevin Ollie and rookie guard Ronald Murray as well as a conditional draft pick capped a busy day for the Sonics.
