TUCSON -- Jeff Baker hit another detour in his pro career.
First, Baker, who was selected from Clemson University in June in the fourth round of the draft by the Colorado Rockies, missed making his pro debut last season because of prolonged contract negotiations.
Then, he didn't arrive in spring training as expected Wednesday. Instead, he underwent surgery on his left wrist, which probably will force him to spend time in extended spring training in April instead of joining a minor league team.
