In the northern areas where winters are colder and longer, the springtime is very important in the life of the honeybee. Close attention should be given to the hive for its well-being because starvation at this time is the biggest problem.
An early spring feeding is essential in helping to start the brood which needs to be strong as temperatures go up in the springtime. The feeding should be a syrup consisting of one part sugar dissolved in two parts water.
