Native to North America, cranberries have long been part of the American culture. The deep ruby-red berries can be found gracing many a home as a seasonal decorative item or dinner dish. More and more Americans are enjoying the tart, refreshing taste of pure cranberry juice or juice blends. Almost 95% of the cranberry crop produced in the United States is used in juices and other food products; the remaining 5% is sold as fresh fruit (1).
