LONG BEFORE MUFFINS GREW TO THE SIZE OF Whoppers and Oreos became a cereal, there was breakfast. And it was rarely good. Too unhealthy too caloric, too drab, and (often as a result of the aforementioned) entirely skip-pable. Yet in the abstract, at least, we adore breakfast--a real breakfast, a breakfeast, the mythic kind that often involves eggs. My theory about breakfast is that it's our favorite meal we never have.
How dumb. So here's a modest proposal. Instead of dreaming about nut-encrusted French toast with vanilla-maple syrup, and egg-and-bread strata with turkey sausage, Fontina cheese, and rosemary, why not try cooking them? For dinner. In this country, ...
