MOUNT HOREB -- Few musical instruments can conjure images of plaid, but the bagpipes can.
Their characteristic drone is often associated with the Scottish, but more than 30 types of instruments resembling bagpipes can be traced back through Europe, Asia and Africa into the antiquity of the Middle East.
"Almost every country has a bagpipe of some type, said Bill McInnes, a veteran bagpiper from Mount Horeb. "They may sound different or look different, but they're basically the same instrument."
