Are former varsity athletes and people with thin bodies more prone to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease? Lewis R Rowland, a neurologist at Columbia University, recently conducted a study on this question after recognizing a trend among his patients. Published in the September 10, 2002 issue of Neurology the study examined 431 of Rowland's patients, all of whom had some type of neurological disorder.
