Feb. 25--State prison officials have hired a consultant to find out whether Pierce County really is the "dumping ground" for criminals, sex offenders and other undesirables -- as many local officials contend.
Jim Blodgett, administrator for the state Department of Corrections office in Tacoma, said he's trying to defuse the growing tension between his agency and Pierce County -- particularly with prosecutor Gerry Horne's office.
