In these days of bin Laden and Saddam, it's easy to imagine boogeymen behind every door. And behind every public contract.
But sometimes, things really are as simple as they seem.
You wouldn't know it from a breathless report in another medium last week. It made it appear that a group of ``powerhouse consultants'' were sticking up the Regional Transportation District and its partners in the Union Station project for a 40-percent pay hike.
I like slamming consultants as much as the next guy, and even with marginal justification. In this case, there is none.
