Firestone to build ag warehouse
The Firestone Agricultural Tire division has selected Des Moines, Iowa, as the site for its global distribution center.
The company will break ground on the 850,000-sq.-ft. facility in the spring and the project is set for completion by 2004, parent company Bridgestone/Firestone said. The new center will consolidate activities at five separate warehouses in Des Moines.
The facility will serve BFS' global distribution needs, which include the supply of products to more than 70 countries worldwide. The cost of the center will be in the neighborhood of $20 million, according to Clair McCloy, division controller.
