CELTIC could have spent this season in torture after the Champions League elimination in Basel that wrecked their hopes of a second crack at Europe's top tournament.

But as the SPL champions last night prepared to clinch a UEFA Cup quarter-final spot by knocking one of the top Bundesliga sides out of the competition, Martin O'Neill seemed anything but depressed.

The parallels between tonight's tie and the Swiss miss in August are too close for comfort.
