INTRODUCTION

Poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) is used in a wide variety of fields, including fiber products, household appliances, and medical supplies. In particular, PET is used in large quantities in the container industry as a material for beverage and seasoning bottles (1). Recently, however, performance requirements have become increasingly diverse in response to product diversification, and in hot-fill applications, among others, transparent plastic bottles, which provide heat resistance and gas barrier properties superior to the basic performance of PET have been desired (2).
