The popularity of pull-type tile plows has the drainage industry split on the best way to go
Ed and Mike Kendrick realize that they are rare in the farm drainage industry. While most contractors fight the farmer-owned plows digging into their market, the Melvin, Ill., brothers actually bought one of the pull-type machines to use on their farm and in their drainage business.
They use a trencher to put in mains and extra-tough laterals but turn to a pull-type plow for most runs. "We can put tile in cheaper and faster with a pull-type plow," says Ed. "The machine costs less to buy, less to operate, and we can pass those savings on to our customers."
