NEW YORK -- NEW YORK, Feb. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Issuing the largest penalties under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) since its adoption, the FTC takes action against Mrs. Fields Cookies and against Hershey Foods Corporation. Both companies had websites aimed at children that collected personally identifiable information from children in violation of this online privacy law. Mrs. Fields Cookies was fined $100,000 and Hershey Foods was fined $85,000. Both companies signed consent orders where they agreed not to violate the act in the future.
