It was like playing basketball in a phone booth.
Gophers forward Rick Rickert couldn't turn around Wednesday night without a Michigan State player bumping him. Forward Michael Bauer couldn't catch a pass without a Spartan arriving at the same time as the ball.
While the Gophers men's basketball team can be offensively potent, it's also a group that needs space and pace to be effective. With the Gophers unable to find any room to operate on offense, they saw their three-game winning streak end with a 71-61 loss to the Spartans.
