Prior to a lecture at Le Moyne College some 30 years ago or so, an aggressive and precocious radio reporter about 19 years of age interviewed one of the principal architects and vigorous defenders of the Vietnam War.
I asked presidential adviser Walt Rostow the following: "Why are we in Vietnam?"
Rostow offered a lengthy, verbose and circuitous response that lasted at least five minutes. It included an historical perspective, a geographic lesson as well ...
