2003 MAR 4 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- A single dose of ornidazole can resolve giardiasis in children, researchers in Turkey say.
A. Ozbilgin and coauthors compared "the treatment efficacy of a single dose of ornidazole with five day treatments of ornidazole and metronidazole" in pediatric giardiasis patients.
A group of "175 children, between two and 15 years old, whose stool samples were found to be positive for Giardia lamblia cysts and/or trophozoites by either saline-Lugol, formalin-ethyl acetate or trichrome staining, were enrolled in the study," they said.
