Feb. 28--LONG BEACH, Calif.--Up, up and away.
That saying may be best known as one of Superman's catch phrases, but it's also an apt description of what's going on with gas prices in the greater Long Beach area these days.
For many consumers, current gas prices are the highest in memory with some locations charging more than $2 a gallon.
Oil prices surged earlier this week to their highest levels since Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1990.
Another potential conflict with Iraq is now being blamed for the higher American gas rates.
