Before answering your question let me first give you some facts about saliva: Saliva is the water fluid that represents the combined secretion of the salivary glands. There are small salivary glands and large salivary glands.
The small salivary glands are numerous. They are located inside the mouth where they are embedded in the mucous membrane (lining) of the upper and lower lips, the cheeks, tongue and the palate. They secrete minimal amounts of saliva continuously.
