This article addresses the "consent once removed" exception to the search warrant requirement. Under that exception, officers are permitted to make a warrantless entry to arrest a suspect based on the consent to enter given earlier to an undercover officer or informant. Knowledge of the law of arrest and search is important to understanding the doctrine of consent once removed. This article provides a brief review of those areas before explaining consent once removed.
